I often glimpse the world as simple arrangement; a positioning of objects, sights during a distance or timespan, movement of bodies or my own through them, a quality of colour or light. I do a 'cartoon' of it. They look criminally simple, with the same assurance as a child's drawing of a person; hilarious limbs sprouting five line fingers crawling up the arm. In a way this kind of image is absurd, but true. On canvas my line drawings look absurd too but from this point I colour and sculpt visual qualities in traditional and intuitive painting methods.
The lucid moments which inspire the work are essentially when my eyes and mind make sense of the world. I feel a kind of verification through the image in front of me and in my mind thats do-able in paint. My aim is to make highly literal images of the world through one of the most archaic yet perpetually unresolved methods of communication.
